Dream Highway

Atelier Project, Winter Term 2022/23

The protagonist drives a DeLorean-like vehicle down an endlessly long highway, the vast city shimmering on the horizon. Yet the city never gets any closer—unless a small puzzle found in each stage is solved. The ultimate goal is to reach the city in order to wake up from the dream.
Each time a stage’s puzzle is solved, the city draws nearer. Sometimes you have to dodge cows blocking the road; other times, you’ll need to throw a bottle at a troublemaker to clear the path again.
The game was showcased in the rooftop atelier during the annual open exhibition at HBK Saar, where it was accessible and playable by the public.
The project series deep in a lucid dream, led by Prof. Burkhard Detzler, inspired the concept of a dream racer with role-playing elements in a synthwave aesthetic. Developed in collaboration with Anne Deutschen (Saarland University), Dream Highway was created using the Unity engine.
